Accessibility Statement
I want sparklane.dev to be usable by as many people as possible. I build and maintain the site with accessibility in mind, including people who use assistive technology, keyboard navigation, browser zoom, or other ways of accessing the web.
How accessible this website is
I have not made a formal, independent WCAG conformance claim. The site is intended to follow the relevant principles of WCAG 2.2 and I am continuing to improve it.
Known limitations
- Some older or user-authored content may need clearer headings, simpler language, or better image descriptions.
- Some embedded or linked third-party content, such as media players, is outside my direct control.
- Some interactive features and content are provided by third-party components and may not behave consistently with every assistive technology.
What I do to improve accessibility
- use semantic HTML and a logical heading structure
- provide a skip link and keyboard-accessible navigation
- include alternative text for meaningful images and treat decorative images as decorative
- provide visible focus styles and support browser zoom and responsive layouts
- respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting where possible - provide light and dark colour themes and review colour contrast as the site changes
- write content as clearly and plainly as I can
Feedback and alternative formats
If you have difficulty using any part of this website, or need information in another format, please email emma@sparklane.dev. Please include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the format or adjustment you need. I will do my best to provide the information or an accessible alternative.

Technical information
This website is a personal site built with Astro and hosted as a static website. It includes content from external services and components, which may have their own accessibility limitations. I use WAVE to identify common accessibility issues and review changes as I update the site. This does not replace testing with a range of assistive technologies.
