Hello hello! I'm Emma.
I'm a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead with over 13 years of experience across different technologies, projects, and domains. I thrive in start-up and scale-up environments, bringing strong technical expertise and leadership to every project.
Spark Lane is my digital garden, where I share my journey through code, leadership, creative pursuits and continuous learning.
I believe in writing clean, maintainable code and creating user experiences that are both functional and delightful. I approach development with an emphasis on accessibility first, continuous learning, community engagement, and user-centred design. By prioritising these principles, I aim to build inclusive experiences that work for everyone, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and contribute to the advancement of the tech industry as a whole.

With extensive experience across the entire software lifecycle, I've designed, developed and deployed desktop and web-based applications while working with and managing mixed-discipline teams.
My career has taken me from apprentice and junior developer roles into team leadership, including work as a Team Lead, Senior Software Engineer and Lead Back-end Developer across fintech, digital agencies and defence.
I've worked with a diverse modern stack across backend, frontend, CMS, databases, cloud, DevOps and testing.
